PROGRESS ON OUR NEW STUDIO SPACE….
…in Brookfield Town Hall continues! Friday and Saturday we began freshening up the paint on the Green Room adjacent to the Ballroom stage on the second floor, where our shared studio space with Brookfield Community Arena will be located, as well as the Mezzanine (storage area) above it.
Helping out were volunteers including Holly Chisholm and Rob Raslavsky, who helped us finish painting the Mezzanine (and start in on the Green Room). That room looks so much lighter and brighter now! It will be used mainly for storage by both WACF and BCA, as well as a voice-tracking station for recording public service announcements and news spots.
Today and the beginning of this week we’ll be putting on the first and final coats of paint in the Green Room–a cheerful green for the lower part of the wall and “country white” (also used in the Mezzanine) for the upper wall. Still to come—installing a handrail in the stairwell to the Mezzanine, cleaning up and installing vinyl flooring in the former half-bath off the Green Room, possibly repairing some holes in the stairwell wall, and cleaning up the woodwork in both spaces.
Once those are done:

1) We’ll begin moving furniture, furnishings and supplies into the Mezzanine, probably starting with our 45 boxes of donated CDs and the dozen or so boxes of donated vinyl. We’re going to need LOTS of help with that, so email us if you’d like to lend a hand!

2) Kurt Jackson of Hampden Communications will assess the Town Hall clock tower to determine antenna placement and how its cable will be routed through the building, and make plans for moving the antenna there from the Gavitt building.
(Fun fact: Kurt is the guy who climbs Boston’s John Hancock tower antenna to fly the flag when one of our pro sports teams wins a championship!)
