OUR RENTAL AGREEMENT IS UP FOR RENEWAL!

The Brookfield Select Board’s Executive Assistant has notified us that the Select Board will put Apple Country Radio on its Wednesday, April 1 meeting agenda, where they will review – and hopefully, renew – the license agreement that allows us to use the Green Room on the second floor of the Town Hall and the Mezzanine above it as our live studio and storage space. Apple Country Radio has spent almost $12,000 of our own funds cleaning, painting, refinishing the floors and Mezzanine stairwell, and installing electric wiring, lighting, and Ethernet capability in both the Mezzanine and the Green Room. … Continue reading →

At some time tomorrow our antenna will be disconnected from our transmitter array and removed from its current location at the Gavitt Wire & Cable’s old factory. It will be put in storage until some time late in the following week, when it will be remounted on the Brookfield Town Hall Clock Tower just down the street from our current location. Until then, Apple Country Radio, WACF-LP 98.1FM will go dark. Over the past three years, donors and listeners around the region gifted Apple Country Radio with over 50 cartons of CDs and vinyl! Those cartons have been stored at the former Gavitt offices, awaiting transport to the storage room above our new studio space at the Brookfield Town Hall. On Thursday, October 9, at 11am, a group of volunteers arrived in a white van from Jillian Carty’s CAD class ready to help! These students were eager to work and superbly organized. PROGRESS ON OUR NEW STUDIO SPACE….

…in Brookfield Town Hall continues! Friday and Saturday we began freshening up the paint on the Green Room adjacent to the Ballroom stage on the second floor, where our shared studio space with Brookfield Community Arena will be located, as well as the Mezzanine (storage area) above it. Helping out were volunteers including Holly Chisholm and Rob Raslavsky, who helped us finish painting the Mezzanine (and start in on the Green Room). That room looks so much lighter and brighter now! IT’S OFFICIAL!

It was a looooong process, but we’re happy to announce that Apple Country Radio has finally been granted permission to move into vacant space in the Brookfield Town Hall and to relocate our broadcast antenna to the Town Hall Clock Tower! Our antenna technician and broadcast engineer are standing by to get us back on the air after the move. A local contractor has agreed to loan us the use of his bucket truck for the antenna re-installation, saving us at least $2000 in rental fees.
