IT’S OFFICIAL!
It was a looooong process, but we’re happy to announce that Apple Country Radio has finally been granted permission to move into vacant space in the Brookfield Town Hall and to relocate our broadcast antenna to the Town Hall Clock Tower!
Our antenna technician and broadcast engineer are standing by to get us back on the air after the move. A local contractor has agreed to loan us the use of his bucket truck for the antenna re-installation, saving us at least $2000 in rental fees. Another local contractor will soon restore the worn and dirty floors in both the second floor space and the tiny mezzanine above it to a like-new condition. And in an exciting development, we’ll be sharing our new Town Hall studio spaces with Brookfield Community Media, the town’s cable access station, whose coordinator is working with us on planning and technical details. Together, we’ll be working to bring news, entertainment, coverage of local events and meetings, and other fun, informative and educational audio AND video content to our listeners and viewers, and we can hardly wait!
But right now we need to remove the last few items from both spaces, patch the walls, and clean and paint the rooms. Once that’s completed, our furniture, broadcast equipment and 50 boxes of CDs, LPs and 45s donated to us by faithful listeners must be transported to our new home in the Town Hall second floor from their current location down the street.
Many hands make light work, and many, many hands will be required to accomplish these tasks! We’re looking for volunteers to help renovate the studio and assist with the move-in. If enough volunteers show up it we estimate that it will take a week for the cleaning and painting, and two or three days at the most for the actual move. Some of you have already offered to help, but we can use more! If you’re interested, send us a message and we’ll be in touch with the final dates and task lists.
If you aren’t available as a hands-on volunteer, but want to help with our move, consider a donation to defray our estimated $6,000 to $8,000 in moving expenses! All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
