PROGRESS ON OUR NEW STUDIO SPACE….

…in Brookfield Town Hall continues! Friday and Saturday we began freshening up the paint on the Green Room adjacent to the Ballroom stage on the second floor, where our shared studio space with Brookfield Community Arena will be located, as well as the Mezzanine (storage area) above it. Helping out were volunteers including Holly Chisholm and Rob Raslavsky, who helped us finish painting the Mezzanine (and start in on the Green Room). That room looks so much lighter and brighter now! ANNOUNCEMENT–PUBLIC HEARING

As some of you may have heard, Apple Country Radio/WACF-LP 98.1 signed two rental agreement contracts with the Town of Brookfield this past April granting permission to move our broadcast studio and transmitter from the former Gavitt factory complex (which is being sold) to unused rooms in the second floor of the Town Hall, and to relocate our antenna atop the Town Hall clock tower. IT’S OFFICIAL!

It was a looooong process, but we’re happy to announce that Apple Country Radio has finally been granted permission to move into vacant space in the Brookfield Town Hall and to relocate our broadcast antenna to the Town Hall Clock Tower! Our antenna technician and broadcast engineer are standing by to get us back on the air after the move. A local contractor has agreed to loan us the use of his bucket truck for the antenna re-installation, saving us at least $2000 in rental fees. AN UPDATE ON OUR STUDIO MOVE

As many of you know, the Gavitt Wire & Cable Company complex in Brookfield where Apple Country Radio is located is now for sale. Company officials gave us plenty of advance notice and we immediately began to look for a new home. With no suitable locations available in town, we asked the Brookfield Select Board about mounting our antenna on the Town Hall clock tower, and renting a decades-unused second floor room for our studio and the tiny “mezzanine” above it to house our transmitter array. We have news! Since first signing on the air in January 2017, Apple Country Radio, WACF 98.1FM has been broadcasting a tasty mix of music from the 60s, 70s and 80s from former office space donated to us by the Gavitt Wire & Cable Company at 20 Central Street in Brookfield. Our listeners also supported us with donations and volunteer labor while we upgraded the building’s utilities, installed Internet access, purchased initial studio equipment, and painted and cleaned the company’s former office with plans for building out a studio for live programming.
