ANNOUNCEMENT–PUBLIC HEARING
As some of you may have heard, Apple Country Radio/WACF-LP 98.1 signed two rental agreement contracts with the Town of Brookfield this past April granting permission to move our broadcast studio and transmitter from the former Gavitt factory complex (which is being sold) to unused rooms in the second floor of the Town Hall, and to relocate our antenna atop the Town Hall clock tower.
At their July 29 meeting, just as we began renovating the Town Hall spaces we hoped to occupy, the current Select Board and Zoning Enforcement Officer informed us that we needed to obtain a Special Permit before we can begin broadcasting from our new home.
At this time we have no alternative sites for our antenna and studio. If the permit is not granted we will have to cease renovations, shut down the station and surrender our broadcast license to the Federal Communications Commission.
The Public Hearing for our Special Permit application will be held at the Planning Board meeting this coming Wednesday night, September 17, at 7pm in the Brookfield Town Hall Banquet Hall. Our permit application and accompanying documents can be viewed at the Planning Board agenda page using the drop-down menu at https://www.mytowngovernment.org/01506.
If you enjoy our station and support our mission to bring locally-focussed programming to our greater Brookfield audiences, we invite you to attend the Public Hearing. You can also watch the livestream of the hearing on Brookfield Community Arena’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@brookfieldcommunityarena/streams.
Thanks to all of our listeners for your ongoing support and encouragement!
